What Florentino Pérez Told the Peñas in Jeddah

Nearly 500 fans from 26 supporters' clubs met the Real Madrid president before the Spanish Super Cup final. What he said is a message to every peña, including ours.

Before the Spanish Super Cup final in Jeddah, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez met the club's supporters' clubs at the Jeddah Hilton. Nearly 500 fans, representing 26 peñas, were in the room. As a peña ourselves, we read his speech closely, because much of it was addressed to people like us.

"Our players feel your strength"

Pérez's first message was about the link between the team and its supporters abroad. He told the peñas that the players feel their strength and passion, and that they would give everything to make them proud of the badge and the shirt. It was the club's sixth final in Saudi Arabia, and he thanked the fans for the affection and hospitality they always show the team.

Madridismo has no borders

The line that stayed with us was his description of Madridismo as a feeling "capable of uniting millions of people in all parts of the world", regardless of where they come from, their nationality, language, religion or culture. That is the story of Peña Madridista Bangladesh in one sentence: thousands of fans who have never shared a city with the club, brought together by it anyway.

The Foundation's work

Pérez also spoke about the Real Madrid Foundation, which he said helps around 400,000 people a year, mostly children in vulnerable situations, in more than 100 countries. In Saudi Arabia its project in Riyadh works with 300 boys and girls and visits children in hospital. It is a reminder that the club's reach goes far beyond results.

"We never give up"

He closed with the club's record: fifteen European Cups, and 30 titles in the last fifteen years, six of them European Cups. Every player who wears the shirt, he said, understands one thing that is not up for debate: Real Madrid never gives up. He credited the unity of Madridistas everywhere for that run.

At the end of the event, each peña in the room received a Real Madrid flag from the president.

What it means for Peña Madridista Bangladesh

Official supporters' clubs are part of how Real Madrid sees itself, not an afterthought. Events like Jeddah show the club treats its peñas as family. Our job is to deserve that: bring Madridistas in Bangladesh together, represent the club well, and keep growing a community the club can be proud of.
